Caledonian MacBrayne Island Ferries
CalMac run ferries to the following islands from Oban, Mull
(for Mull and Iona), Colonsay, Coll, Tiree, Barra, South
Uist and Lismore. Click on the above link if you want to
plan your onward journey from Failte bed and Breakfast.
Oban Whisky Distillery
While staying at Failte B&B Oban, many of our guests love
the tour of the Oban Distillery. They provide an excellent
organised and informative tour with of course a visit to
their shop at the end.
Inverawe Smokehouse
A few miles outside Oban on the river awe you will find a
forest park with many walks and the very interesting
Inverawe Smokehouse with a cafeteria to visit. A nice
afternoon out.
Atlantis Leisure
Atlantis Leisure is a great venue for swimming and many
sports. Whether you want to keep up your fitness level or
just enjoy a game of tennis etc. this is the place. The
centre is about a 5 minute walk from your accommodation at
Failte.
Skipinish Ceilidh House
When enjoying your stay at Failte, you must visit the
Ceilidh House. A traditional musical night out in this
excellent venue, run by the professional musicians
themselves and two record company owners. Not to be missed.
Puffin
Dive Centre
For the more adventurous, why not use Failte Bed and
Breakfast Oban as your base while learning to dive. Visit
the website link above and find out more about this exciting
sport in some of Europe's best diving waters. Puffin also
supply boat and tank hire for those already experienced.
Cruachan Dam
Visitor Centre
A few miles out of Oban lies the "Hollow Mountain". An Hydro
engineering project which has provided cheap and green
electricity to the grid for many years. There is a very
interesting visitor centre and a tour of the tunnels.
Dunollie Castle
Walking along the promenade in Oban is a common
participation of tourist to the area. At the northern end of
this, there is a very interesting tower house castle. A
short steep climb from the road rewards the visitor with
amazing views across the Firth of Lorne to Mull and other
islands.
Cuan
Mor
Oban has many fine restaurants such as Cuan Mor. The
restaurant is situated on the main street overlooking Oban
Harbour and is a high quality reasonably costed venue. The
name Cuan Mor means Big Ocean.
National Kayak School
The National Kayak School, based in Oban offer a wide range
of courses to suit every ability. They also provide Sea
Kayaking Holidays.
